Add a New Asset to the Map

New assets can be added to the map to show what really exists.

TIP: Make sure that the layer you're editing is visible in the Legend so you can view the assets on the map.

  1. Click Editor on the map toolbar or select it from the Tools drop-down list.
  1. Select a layer from the drop-down list.
  1. Click the asset symbol to add the asset to the map.

  1. If the asset is a point, click the location on the map where the new asset should be.

If the asset is a line, you have the option to draw the asset on the map by Freehand Polyline or Polyline.

  1. To draw the asset manually, select Freehand Polyline, click on the map, and drag the mouse to draw the feature.
  2. To draw the asset in a straight line, select Polyline and click the initial start point of the line on the map. Click another point on the map to create a line. Double-click to end the line.

A blue progress bar appears in the Editor panel to indicate edits are saved.

  1. Enter relevant information in the attribute panel that appears. The fields in this panel are unique to the asset.

The object ID is automatically created for any asset added.

  1. To change the position of the asset, click and drag to move it.

TIP: Click Undo to reverse unwanted edit(s) made in this session. Click Redo to bring back any changes that were undone in the same session.
