Service Definitions Fields
The following fields display on the Map Services, Geocode Services, Geometry Services, Print Tasks, or Route Tasks panels on the Service Definitions tab:
- Is Active: By default, services are set as Active, but you can clear the check box to inactivate a service.
- Refresh: If desired, enter a Refresh interval (number of seconds) for the service. The default is zero, which means it is not refreshed. This applies to dynamic maps, AVL layers, or feature layers that are designated for use in the map that you want to refresh frequently.
- Sync Feature Layers in Mobile: Select to allow the mobile apps to download sync-enabled feature services, including those in web maps, for offline use. The feature service can either be read-only, or editable (any changes made are synchronized once connected to the internet) depending on how your geodatabase is set up.
- Office: Select if this service is used in Office Companion.
- Tablet: Select if this service is used in Tablet or any of the apps, like Respond.
- Mobile: Select if this service is used with the mobile native apps (Android and iOS). The mobile native apps can use a map service that is defined at the group or employee level. If multiple services are selected for use in the mobile native apps, the services display in the apps in the order that they appear in the Map Services panel.
- Public: Select if this service is used for maps displayed in the inbox, as well as maps used to publish search results as a map that can be shared with anyone, regardless of whether or not they are a Cityworks user. Since the Public service is used to publish search results as a map in the inbox and as a saved search map link (eURL) that can be shared by anyone, the URL must point to a base map that is defined against the domain.
- Other: Select to set up a service definition with custom tags in a comma delimited list. These tags can then be used by third-party applications to call and filter which GIS content they want to get from Cityworks based on the tags supplied using the Cityworks GIS web service API. The Office, Tablet, Mobile, or Public tags may also be called by the third-party applications.
