Add a Vector Tile Service

Add a Vector Tile Service map service to better represent scale when zooming in or out on the map. It usually serves as a basemap layer or reference layer under a map service layer.

PREREQUISITES: Vector tiles can only be published if using Portal for ArcGIS with ArcGIS Server federated to it and Data Store tied to the ArcGIS Server instance to build the hosted service that is a vector tile.

1. Click the Service Resources tab.
2. Click Add on the GIS Service Resources panel.

3. Enter a Name for the service.
4. Select Vector Tile Service from the Service Type drop-down list.
5. Enter the URL of the service.
6. Click Add.
7. Select the new resource from the GIS Service Resources panel to edit the Resource Details.

The Id, a unique number assigned to the service resource, appears to the right of the resource Name.

8. Select the Security Type, either No Security, OAuth2 App, OAuth2 User, or Token.

9. Click open service link next to the URL field to quickly check the service connection.

Once a Vector Tile Service is added as a resource, add it to a Service Definition. See Add Services to a Service Definition for more information.

NOTE: Designer automatically saves the changes you make. A notification that says Data Saved appears in the top-right corner when you make changes to the page.
