Construction Type
Construction type identifies the materials used to construct a building. This may or may not influence inspections and fees for the building project, depending on the jurisdiction.
Select Construction Types from the Land Setup menu to display a list of all the construction types currently in the system. From this list, administrators have the option to add a new construction type or edit, expire, or delete existing types.
NOTE: It is a best practice never to delete a construction type after it has been created; instead, mark it as Expired to avoid corrupting any information that may be tied to that type.
Add and Edit Construction Types
- Click the Add record button at the top right corner of the panel to create a new construction type.
- Click the Edit record button next to the code of an existing construction type to view or edit the current information for that type.
IMPORTANT: Do not mark a construction type as expired until there are no buildings within your jurisdiction with the construction type.
- Const Type ID: This is a numeric identifier that is automatically assigned after it is saved. This box cannot be changed.
- Const Code: This is a 10-character identifier created by the administrator. This code appears in lists and drop-down boxes and allows users to distinguish one construction type from another. This box cannot be changed once the construction type has been saved.
- Description: This is a brief explanation of the construction type. Descriptions are often just a more detailed version of the type code, but administrators may include more exact information if they desire.
- Expired: This check box, available on the Edit: Construction Type panel, marks the construction type as expired on the main Construction Type panel.
