Structural Class

Structural classes are rating systems for evaluating and labeling buildings. Select Structural Class from the Land Setup menu to display a list of all the classes currently in the system. From this list, administrators have the option to add a new structural class or edit, expire, or delete existing classes.

NOTE: It is a best practice never to delete a structural class after it has been created; instead, mark it as Expired to avoid corrupting any information that may be tied to that class.

Add and Edit Structural Classes

  1. Click Add record at the top right corner of the panel to create a new structural class.
  2. Click Edit record next to the name of an existing class to view or edit the current information for that class.

  • Str Class ID: This is a numeric identifier that is automatically assigned after the class is saved. This box cannot be edited.
  • Str Class Code: This is a 10-character identifier created by the administrator. This code appears in lists and drop-down boxes and allows users to distinguish one structural class from another. This box cannot be edited once the class has been saved.
  • Description: This is a brief explanation of the structural class. Descriptions are often just a more detailed version of the class code, but administrators may include more exact information if they desire.
  • Expired: Select this check box, visible only on the Edit: Structural Class panel, to mark the structure class as expired on the main panel.

IMPORTANT: Never expire a structural class until there are no more buildings using that class.
