Share a Query

Cityworks eURL enables you to share maps created through inspection, request, work order, and PLL case queries, also known as searches. This application generates a URL (web address) that can be used to show an event layer on another map outside of Cityworks, such as ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and ArcGIS Enterprise (Portal).

If you are licensed for eURL, you can share searches with others by using one of the following methods.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Users must have an eURL search configured. See Add a Search for more information.
  • Users must be licensed for eURL.

  • The first time you install Respond, you need to add any apps or pages you need or want to access. For example, use the Route menu option to add a menu item that navigates to the License Management tool and other pages. See Add Menu Items and Edit Item Fields for more information.

  1. Open the eURL Configuration page.

  2. Tap the Preview icon.

The preview opens in a new tab on the browser.

  1. Open the eURL Configuration page.
  2. Tap the CSV icon. This generates a zipped .csv file containing the saved query data.

NOTE: Latitude and longitude fields are included in this file. The date can be formatted in local format rather than an epoch date by adding localDate=true to the call.

  1. Share the .csv file or upload it to other applications.
  1. Open the eURL Configuration page.
  2. Tap the ShapeFile icon. This generates a zipped shapefile. The data is projected to Lat/Long when it is added to the shapefile.

  1. Open the eURL Configuration page.
  2. Tap the URL icon. A new browser tab opens that contains a service URL that can be shared.

NOTE: The URL option uses the domain-level map that is defined for public use in Designer under GIS > Services. See Add Services to a Service Definition in the Admin 2.1 Guide for more information.

  1. Enter ?f=jsapi at the very end of the URL.

  1. Press Enter on your keyboard.

A map appears with the query displayed.

  1. Send the URL link to others, add an event layer, or add it to another map outside of Cityworks (i.e., ArcGIS Online).

IMPORTANT: If your Cityworks site is internal, only users on your internal network will be able to use the URL generated. If your site is external, then users outside your network will be able to use the URL to view the map.
