Close a Work Order

Work orders are closed by an administrator when work is completed. If a service request is associated to a work order, the service request closes automatically when the work order is closed, regardless of if custom fields are required and unpopulated on the request. Field validation settings that prevent a work order from being closed can be set up in Admin. See Field Validation in the Admin 3.2 Guide for more information.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Users must have permission to close work orders.
  • All required fields must be populated.
  1. Open the work order. See Open a Work Order for more information.
  2. Fill in the Completed By field with the person who verified that all the work was completed properly.
  3. Set the Actual Finish date and time.

NOTE: If today's date is selected as the Actual Finish date, the current time is automatically entered. It can be changed if needed.

  1. Complete all assigned tasks.
  2. Verify that all information has been correctly added.
  3. Make any necessary edits or additions.
  4. Tap Close in the upper-right corner. The Closed By field populates with your login and the Close Date field populates with the current date and time.

If there are any field validations set for the work order, either an error or warning message appears when you try to close the work order if the field requirements have not been met. See Field Validation in the Admin 3.2 Guide for more information.

  1. Tap Save in the upper-right corner.

NOTE: If the work order is closed, Reopen appears if you have permission to reopen the work order. See Re-open a Work Order for more information.
