Preview Query Results

The third panel, on the Query Editor page, is a preview of which work activities meet the search parameters of your query and is populated when search parameters are defined. Once work activities populate, actions can be completed based on the type of query that was created.

PREREQUISITES:

  • In 23.1 and newer, users must be assigned to security roles to view query results when the Case Object query type is used. See Security Roles in the Admin 3.6 Guide for more information.
  1. Tap Work activity search and tap Advanced Search.

  1. Tap New Query and add the desired search criteria. See Add a Query for more information.

Before a preview of work activities that match the search criteria appear in the third panel, at least one response field must be selected for the query type.

  1. Tap Response Fields.

The Response Fields panel is populated with fields from the query type's table. For example, if the query type is work order, then fields from a work order appear in the list.

  1. Select the check box to the left of any fields you want to display in your search query results.
  2. Tap Close.

The work activities now dynamically filter in the third panel to show which activities meet the search criteria entered. Please note that if a query boundary was selected for the query, only results that match the query and are within the boundary area defined on the map appear. For example, if a boundary is associated to the query and the total amount of records is 25, but only 10 results appear, it is because there are only 10 of the 25 results that match the query parameters and are within the boundary area defined on the map and associated to the query. See Query Boundary Manager for more information about query boundaries.

NOTE:The Automatically Execute option is enabled by default, but can be disabled in order to edit a query without waiting for the results to populate every time the query is updated. This can be helpful when a query returns a lot of results or the page slows down. The action for the Automatically Execute option is remembered by the user's login.

  1. Tap Open next to any of the results to view the work activity that matches the query criteria in a new tab.
  2. Select a result or multiple results from the list to complete different actions depending on the type of query (e.g., Cityworks, GIS Feature, or GIS Object).

The following actions are available based on the type of query that was created.
