Material Details Fields

The following fields appear on the Material Details section on the Materials page:

  • Id: The material ID.
  • Description: A description of the material.
  • Category: The Category for the material. This is populated in Designer under Preferences > Custom Codes > AMATCAT.
  • Model: The manufacturer's identification for the material.
  • Manufacturer: The maker of the material.
  • Detail: A more detailed description of the material.

NOTE: The Detail field is not displayed on a work order.

  • Default Supplier: Select the default supplier from the drop-down list, or click Add Supplier to create a new supplier for the material.

NOTE: To associate multiple suppliers to a material, see Suppliers.

  • Part Number: The part number of the material, if applicable.
  • Is Active: Select if this material is currently being used.
  • Is Splittable: Select this to allow the material to be split into fractional amounts. If this is not selected, only whole units can be entered.
  • Require Justification: When a requisition is created and materials are added to it, there is a justification field. Select this option to make the justification field on a requisition a required field.
  • Audit Interval: The frequency that this material is audited.
  • Unit Cost: The cost of the material.
  • Unit Of Measure: The units used to measure the material. This is populated in Designer under Preferences > Custom Codes > UNITMEAS.
  • Cost Type: The cost type of the material.
  • Current: The current price of the material when it was most recently received.
  • Weighted Average: All the costs for the material are divided by the number of units on hand.
  • FIFO: First In First Out (FIFO) inventory method which uses the older unit cost first when distributing parts until the older inventory is gone. Then the newer unit costs are used for the newer inventory.
  • LIFO: Last In First Out (LIFO) inventory method which uses the most recent costs first when distributing parts until the newer inventory is gone. Then the older unit costs are used for the older inventory.

NOTE: Weighted Average, FIFO, and LIFO cost types are for use with Storeroom. If you are not using Storeroom, the Current value must be manually entered every time you receive the material.
