Custom XML Configuration Examples

The following are some general examples of how to customize specific parts of your UI using XML. You can take these examples and apply them to customize your UI specific to your organization.

IMPORTANT: Remember that XML base files in the root XML directory should never be modified as they are overwritten with each upgrade.

TIP: See a List of XML Examples on MyCityworks or enter XML Example or JavaScript Example in the search field for XML or JavaScript scenarios you may encounter or XML or JavaScript examples you may use.

While the examples in this section focus on modifying the layout of the main work order page, the Add Address panel, and search tabs, the principles can be applied to other Office and for AMS/PLL pages and forms.

We recommend using an XML editor capable of loading our XML schema definition and guiding you through editing the Layout Manager XML files. Such editors may include Visual Web Developer, Visual Studio, oXygen, Komodo Edit, Notepad++, or any XML-specific editor. The procedures in this section were written specifically for Notepad++, but may be easily transferred to another editor.
