iOS 11.2 Guide Introduction

The iOS 11.2 app allows you to create work orders, service requests, and inspections, and edit work orders, service requests, inspections, and PLL tasks from your iOS device. You can also view work activities on the map as well as add comments to work activities or mark them as completed. Assets or tasks associated with work orders and cases can also be viewed and completed. See the Platform Feature Comparison document on MyCityworks for information on product compatibility.

The Android and iOS apps were developed to be used without the need for constant internet connectivity, and accommodate the need to digitally log work performed and work assigned. For inbox items to stay current, and for work management activity updates to write to the database, the device must be synced periodically. This can be done when connected to a wireless network, or using a mobile data plan in the field. Until the device is synced, any changes on the app will stay in the app database.

In addition to English, the mobile apps can also be displayed in Swedish, French, and Arabic.

IMPORTANT:

  • We recommend that you do not set your mobile devices to automatically update the Cityworks app. The reason for this is if the update includes a database schema change, users must first sync all their changes before downloading the update. If the device is not synced prior to the update, any changes that weren't synced will be lost.
  • We recommend that you adjust your device's sleep or auto-lock setting to a longer period of time. This ensures that your screen doesn't lock itself in the middle of the syncing process.

NOTE: If you are using Windows Authentication with the iOS app, you need to enable Anonymous Authentication in IIS.
