Close a Service Request

Generally, this task is assigned to an employee who reviews the service requests. If a service request is associated to a work order, the service request closes automatically when the work order is closed, regardless of if custom fields are required and unpopulated on the request. Field validation settings that prevent a service request from being closed can be set up in Admin, which is available at 15.7 and newer. See Field Validation in the Admin 3.0 Guide for more information. Note that this version of the app is only compatible with Cityworks 23 and newer and needs to be accessed from the Cityworks 23 site.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Users must have permission to close service requests.
  • All required fields must be populated.
  1. Open the desired service request.
  2. Click Close on the service request toolbar. The Closed By field populates with your login and the Date field populates with the current date and time. Close.

If there are any field validations set for the service request, either an error or warning message appears when you try to close the service request if the field requirements have not been met. See Field Validation in Admin 3.0 Guide for more information. Note that this version of the app is only compatible with Cityworks 23 and newer and needs to be accessed from the Cityworks 23 site.

  1. Click Save.

NOTE: Users with Edit After Close permissions see the Reopen icon at the top of the service request that is used to reopen a closed service request. See Re-open a Service Request for more information.
