Capture a Signature on Inspections

Often times a city wants confirmation that an inspection has occurred. Therefore, an inspector can capture a signature when completing an inspection through the Attachments or Related Documents panels on an inspection or case work activity. That signature is then added as an attachment with an extension of PNG.

EXAMPLE

Signatures may be captured when:

  • A city inspector performs a commercial building inspection and the inspector is asked to obtain a digital signature confirming that the inspection took place. The signature may be obtained from the contractor, developer, a worker/supervisor, etc. to confirm the inspection.
  • A code enforcement officer is asked to obtain a signature from the resident or business owner when an inspection for a code enforcement violation has been completed.

You can capture a signature from the Attachments panel on an inspection. It will be named InspectionSignature when it is saved as an attachment.

PREREQUISITES:

  • The Allow Signature check box must be selected on the inspection template. See Inspections in the Admin 2.2 Guide for more information.
  1. Open an inspection and scroll to the Attachments panel.
  2. Enter the name or initials of the signer in the Signer Name field.
  3. Use the mouse or a finger to draw a signature to match the name in the Signer Name field.

  1. Tap Save.

The signature is saved as an attachment.

When you view the signature, it shows the signer's typed name or initials, a description of the task, and the digital signature.

You can capture a signature from the Workflow panel on a case. It will be named TaskSignature when it is saved as an attachment and correlates to CA_TASK_ID.

PREREQUISITES:

  • The Allow Signature check box must be selected by the administrator for the task. See Add a PLL Task in the Admin 2.2 Guide for more information.
  1. Open a case.
  2. On the Case Summary menu, tap Workflow.
  3. Tap Edit Task to the right of the task in the Actions column.

The Edit Task panel opens.

  1. Tap Rel Docs.

  1. Enter the name or initials of the signer in the Signer Name field.
  2. Use the mouse or a finger to draw a signature to match the name in the Signer Name field.

  1. Tap Save.

The signature is saved as an attachment.

You can capture a signature directly to a task using Task Manager. It will be named TaskSignature when it is saved as an attachment and correlates to CA_TASK_ID.

  2. Tap Related Documents from the Results of a search.
