Install and Configure the App

Follow these steps to install and configure the app:

  1. Log in to your Cityworks site on your desktop computer.
  2. Click the user menu in the upper-right corner and click Install Mobile App.

The instructions for installing the app appear.

  1. Install the app on your iOS device through the App Store.

BEST PRACTICE: Users can use the app in a dark mode to conserve battery life in the field. The mobile app will adapt to whichever mode is selected in your device's display settings.

Complete one of the following to configure the app:

After you've connected the app to your Cityworks site, open the app on your mobile device to finish configuring it.

  1. Tap the gear icon in the lower-left corner.
  1. Tap or drag the OAuth switch to the right if your organization utilizes Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) for authentication against your Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online account.
  2. Enter the Client Id of the Single Sign-on Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online app you configured when Single Sign-on was set up. See SAML Configuration and the Single Sign-on 15.8 Guide for more information.
  3. Tap or drag the ArcGIS Online Login switch to the right if you are using ArcGIS Online credentials to log in to the app.

NOTE: To use this setting, the user must be a Cityworks user as well as an ArcGIS Online user. The Cityworks username must exactly match the ArcGIS Online username.

  1. Tap or drag the ArcGIS Portal Login switch to the right if you are using Portal for ArcGIS credentials to log in to the app. Talk to your Cityworks Administrator to get the following Portal for ArcGIS information.
  2. In the Host field, enter the URL to the server for your organization's Portal for ArcGIS instance.
  3. In the Site field, enter the web adapter name for your Portal for ArcGIS instance. In most cases, this will be portal.

NOTE: To use this setting, the user must be a Cityworks user as well as a Portal for ArcGIS user. The Cityworks username must exactly match the Portal for ArcGIS username.

  1. Tap or drag the switch to the right to turn on Always Perform a Full Sync to perform a full sync when logging in and every time the app is synced after that; the sync includes updates, work activities, and configuration data. If Always Perform Full Sync is off, it will perform a full sync when logging in, and only sync updates and work activities after that. By default, it is on.
  2. Tap or drag the Enable New Inbox switch to the right to enable the new inbox layout when you log in.
  3. Tap Save.
